Sponsorship provided by IFAC (Australia) allowed four young Malaysian dance students from the National Arts Academy of Malaysia (Akademi Seni Kebangsaan) to visit the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts on a student exchange visit between 7th and 25th May, 2001.
The project provided an opportunity for students to participate in training and classes at WAAPA, whilst also allowing the Head of Programme (Malaysia) to interact with staff, lecturers and students at WAAPA with a view to forming exchange relationships and developing new ideas.
The Malaysian students provided an evening of traditional Malaysian dance to the students and staff of WAAPA, and there was a significant degree of new thematic and choreographic material developed through joint workshops.
